Water is very important for us。 We must drink water everyday。 We can’t live without water。 Water is everywhere around us。 At home， we use water to wash clothes， to wash dishes， to cook rice， to clean the flat， to have showers， to make drinks， to clean our teeth， to have a bath and so on。 At work， people use water to put out fires， to grow vegetables， to make things in factories and so on。 We also can swim in the sea。 Water is important for us， isn’t it?

complaint is common in life. there are always things not satisfactory to people. it is easy to criticize and find fault with others. the nagging person is always complaining. he complains about his leader, his colleagues and even his wife. his grievnnee and grumbling makes both himself and others unhappy. complaint mends no holes. instead it results ha hostility between beth the giver and the receiver of the complaint.
the man who is a failure is loud of picking holes in others. a man of success is always praising others for their merits, for he sees only the strong points of others and learns from their strong points to enlarge his own ego.
the man who complains only sees the weak points of others and he thinks that he himself is perfect. so he learns little or nothing from others, and, by and by. he loses his own superiority.
what we should do is the opposite of complaint-- praise. an ounce of praise is worth a pound of criticism. a man of good wishes always respects others and appreciates their work and efforts. he congratulates others on their achievements and succeoses. he feels happy about them as it they were his own. he speaks highly of them. in return, he himself is respected and appreciated.
so, let us complain less and praise more, in order to make our world full of good wishes.

A Foreign English Teacher
Our school, Shiyan Middle School in Fuling, was founded only four years ago. It is rather a new school, but now it is getting well-known for its teahing. We have a foreign English teacher, named Hans Barthel. He is the only foreign English teacher in all the schools in our city.
Hans is a tall man with blue eyes. He comes from Munich , in Germany. That is to say, German is his native language and yet he masters several foreign languages, including English. He teaches us spoken English. I still remember the first time he asked me to answer a very easy question, but I was too nervous to answer it, standing dumbfounded. He smiled, encouraged me and let me sit down. From then on, I made up my mind to study English harder.
One evening I plucked up my courage to visit Hans. When I rang the doorbell, he came out and let me in. At first I was a bit nervous when talking with him. To make me feel easy he spoke very slowly, and I could understand quite well. I was so glad that I felt quite at home. Now, I always go to his room on Saturdays. We talk a lot and watch TV together. With his help, my spoken English greatly improved.
Hans is learning Chinese all by himself. He can speak some Chinese now. He can talk with our Chinese teachers. If he doesn＇t know how to say a certain thing in Chinese, he will ask us to teach him till he can say it correctly.
On Christmas I sent him a gift, which he accepted. He spent that evening merrily with us Chinese students and didn＇t feel lonely at all.
This is Hans, a kind man and a good English teacher.
